"Concept - Great use of analogy and symbolism, playful but not lacking

Artwork - Amazing use of textures, color theory, and easy to understand composition

Goal - Exactly what I had in mind when it comes to editorial cartoons, simple to digest and holds the balance between being informative/raising awareness and preachy"

Ian Abella (Art Director - Globe Studios)

"Tackled different types of inequalities. Illustrations look very cohesive together!"

Selina Woo Bhang (Graphic Designer - Plus63 Design Co.)

"Quite direct and cohesive, really appreciated the quality put per work. I feel like from start to finish it felt complete as a whole! All the illustrations were self explanatory and didn't need much text to explain the story."

Nico Blasco (Senior UI/UX Designer - Multisys Technologies Corporation)

"Concept - Most of the cartoons were composed in a cheeky way, which I think is perfect for editorial cartoons.

Artwork - All of the artworks are well done, notably the subtle textures. were a nice touch, shadow and light composition are on point, and the colors work really well together

Goal - Except for the last cartoon (it' still good), I enjoyed the soft and cartoony presentation of topic that sets up the gut-wrenching punchline. I did not read any of the text below, it should be graded similar to it's competition, without explanations."

Ian Abella (Art Director - Globe Studios)

"Very nice overall layout! +1 for the explanations per illustration, but maybe tone down the sentences. Maybe 1 paragraph should be fine!"

Selina Woo Bhang (Graphic Designer - Plus63 Design Co.)

"Loved the variety of the illustrations here! Interesting topics were tackled and exectued. The creativity of each editorial illustration shined a lot for this one. Also liked how the topics tackled were harder hitting and deeper/relevant."

Judges' Comments

Nico Blasco (Senior UI/UX Designer - Multisys Technologies Corporation)

"Concept - I like the creative presentation of societal pressure in this set.

Artwork - Highly appreciate the themed background that changes based on the main artwork's colors. The quality of the artworks is great as well, cool application of two point perspectives, depth, and color

Goal - Can easily see these on online publications, it catches the eye and even though messages are simple, it will still prompt you to think about it for a few seconds."

Ian Abella (Art Director - Globe Studios)

"Title page is kinda irrelevant to the overall layout/content. Illustrations are also a hit or miss, but overall the palettes look good altogether."

Selina Woo Bhang (Graphic Designer - Plus63 Design Co.)

"I was trying to find the connection with the 8-bit title cover (perhaps for the "red button" first illustration?) with the overall illustations. Some illustrations weren't as clear with the messaging, so I wished there was a bit of explanation. Although, Hannah Oreta's was my personal favorite. I feel like skill-wise, this shined the most and served as a nice ender."

Judges' Comments

Nico Blasco (Senior UI/UX Designer - Multisys Technologies Corporation)

"Concept - It's straight to the point and gets the message across, feels like it's relatable for people who experience the stigma.

Artwork - For the first two cartoons the line work is a bit rough, shading and rendering needs to blend better. The last two cartoons are better, but all four (including the presentation deck) can improve on the colors so it's not too analogous. Some of the copy are hard to read

Goal - It does a great job to raise awareness but falls short on sharing information that's not surface level"

Ian Abella (Art Director - Globe Studios)

"Illustrations are relevant to the topic, super nice concepts. Colors/palette are too dark, titles are too hard to see"

Selina Woo Bhang (Graphic Designer - Plus63 Design Co.)

"Very hard hitting & thought provoking approach. Will definitely make a person think about the heavy relevance of each topic. I feel like with just a bit of more polishing with the illustration styles would have been the icing on the cake!"

Judges' Comments

Nico Blasco (Senior UI/UX Designer - Multisys Technologies Corporation)

"Concept - This is a conflicting set, the first two had great ideas and execution while the last two were off the mark regarding the topic and did not communicate their ideas properly

Artwork - The first two artworks are amazing, refreshing use of traditional art, using color to its advantage and great application of perspective compositions. The last two looks rushed.

Goal - The first half of this set delivered well to raise awareness and be informative, while the latter half is confusing and lack luster. Since I didn't read any of the accompanying text (editorial cartoons should stand on it's own), I didn't understand what was going on the last two."

Ian Abella (Art Director - Globe Studios)

"+1 for the explanations but some are too long, others too informal. For the other illustrations maybe scanning is an option? It might look better and add more effect to your layout. *The last illustration though looks a bit rushed from everything else."

Selina Woo Bhang (Graphic Designer - Plus63 Design Co.)

"There was a bit of a disconnect with the overall consistency, but I definitely value the explanations given per output. It started quite strong with the first few illustrations, but fell a bit flat towards the end. It may have been quite underwhelming towards the end since it wasn't as polished as the rest."
